I go here every time I come to Manistee. Clean rooms, friendly staff, gorgeous view of lake Manistee. It's close to restaurants, stores, & downtown. I highly recommend staying here!

For an inexpensive hotel I guess we got what we paid for. We stayed here 3 nights in October 2017 and we're not impressed. The heat was terrible, only a wall heater with nothing to really spread the heat around, making the room and floors cold. It took a long time to get hot water both at the sink and the tub. Though, I didn't need to use it, the floor of the vanity was nasty. It's obviously very old and when remodeling was done, it was done poorly. The bed was comfy and the breakfast was good. We'd never go back or recommend to anyone else.

The unprofessional dealings between our family and the owners has been a ridiculous rip-off. The carpet which was highly outdated, which should have been updated over a decade prior to our stay. They charged us $50 for a solitary burn in a filthy outdated carpet, which I had to pay, and it wasn't right to accept my money when I didn't get the room in the first place. My parents used to come here when they were young, but ever since the new owners and their discourteous retorts in poor defence of a rude employee we shall never return. I once thought it to be a house of warm welcome and pleasantries, yet I was met with the venomous wrath of a jaded serpent bound from the pits of damnation.

We are on Christmas vacation here in Michigan and got a really nice room at the Manistee Hotel. While looking for a room here, we searched for pet friendly hotels and the Manistee Hotel was listed. Nothing was said at check in about pet policies, so we were under the impression everything was good. After we checked in and had gone into this nice, cozy room, we were informed that the pet accessible rooms were in fact closed for winter and had to leave the Hotel. It's now 10 pm, we're tired and ready to lay our heads, but instead we're sitting in a parking lot trying to find a room. It would be nice to know ahead of time that pets are in fact not welcome. What a terrible inconvenience this has turned out to be. Update your information on whatever websites you use to advertise your business. It is 20° outside, we've been traveling all day and we're out in the street because your information is not current. On top of that, the money used to pay for the room is now tied up for the next however long because of the holiday, cutting into our money to return home on. I'm blown away that a business would turn away guests when there's hardly anyone there anyway, simply because of a pet, when you're advertised as a PET FRIENDLY hotel. What a waste. Make money or turn it away? Makes no sense whatsoever. This is false advertisement.

The room was well kept. However, the halls were eerie and a bit run down. There was a stairway that was paved over with a wall so the stairs led to nothing (super creepy). I expected to find the twins from The Shining.
